1. Understand from your cheif technician that the 'gleek, gleek' sound coming from the enigne while accelerating as the car is building up momentum, is under review as he is awaiting reply from KIA Korea to resolve the issue. That noise disappeared when speed has reached 60KM and above.

2. Alignment issue - resolved.

3. Coolant level issue - check & found no problem. Reservoir level topped up. However, last Sunday when I check the level, it has dropped to 1 level below the full tank.

4. The knocking sound from standing start was minimise after some adjustment but found that it has returned to as before. Felt like the exhaust is hitting the undercarriage when car is trying to build up momentum.

Just wondering if issues 1 & 4 could be related to the ECU not set properly as the engine is lacking the power to get the car up to build up momentum. Wonder if resetting the EDC could help?

Thanks for the kind help.
Hi CJ Forte

Pls feedback after the latest fix done on your car last week.Tks

Default Tyre Noise

Arul, good afternoon.

My forte 1.6 SX has been with me for 4 months and it is around 8.5k km on the ODO. The tyre noise has been getting noisier of late and I have reduced the pressure to 30 in front and 28 at the rear but the noise still persists. It is distracting when driving while the tyres are making echoing noice; like a mini vuv:uzuela..

pls advise..thanks in advance.

Dear Arul,

Thank you so much for your kind help. Yes, after upgrading the software for the ECU, no more sound during acceleration. Also the knocking noise from standing start resolved after the change of the spring valve. Now engine is running smoothly and pick up is good too.

However, another noise just cropped up yesterday. It comes from the A/C compressor when running. Sound is only visible when car is stationary. It like squeaking sound. When I switch off the A/C , sound gone.

Guess I'll need to make another round to your SC to resolve this issues.

dear arul,

was suppose to meet u as per our conversation for my 1st service appointment. didn't know that u're no more in puchong. i was totally convinced that u're still there. that's why i made my trip all the way from d'sara to puchong.

knowing that u're no more there, i assumed that i won't make a slot for a service today (time check 3pm).

but as previously mentioned by other bros, arul was a kind person and he asked me to pass the phone over to the staff in puchong and i did manage to get my car serviced by 4.30!

thanks arul for your kind assistance, i'll drop by selayang for my next service for sure!

I was also heard of some squeaking sound when turn On the A/C. Is that normal?

The tyre noise is a bit higher in 17" rims with low profile tyres; irrespective of the tyre brand you use. The level of the noise will be higher or lower; but tyre noise will be there for sure. This is a compromise for better road handling and control the lower profile tyre offer. The recommended tyre pressure of Forte tyres is 32 PSI all round in cold tyres. So there is no need for concern. If you feel that the tyre noise is increasing then check the tyre for any uneven wear pattern.Tks

Hi Arul, Just read the post on DIY ECU reset under DIY & Hobbies, need your opinion whether doing ECU reset affects any other electronic component of car. He claims better pick up and FC. Sounds interesting. Appreciate your comments.
