just having my forte for about a month, i love the looks. Recently was driving to KL from to Kulim and tested the performance of the car. Was driving up to maximum 160 km/hr and to look at what the car can offer me. The engine performance is so so for 1.6L but have to put more effort on the engine when overtaking. One thing that really annoying me was the suspension, my car was very obvious having the floating problem when driving at high speed especially above 130 km/hr. Very often I feel like the car is swiving and floating on the tarmac. When taking corners at high speed, it feels like it didn't grip the road efficiently. Before that, I thought it has something to do with the alignment, it was sorted out before went to KL. I also reckoned that the rear suspension is bit soft, reason I am saying that because when I ran through the bumpy road, it feels swiving up and down to much. Could it be due to the 17 inch rims and low profile tyre. Have anyone experience this? Could it be better with 16inch with 55 profile tyre? So far the rest of the department are ok except the suspension. Way below my expectation, it kills the good the looks.

Dear Tuan Zaidi
I have driven up to 180 km with my imported lighweight 17' rims 215 45 tyres.... so far no problem I dont face this problem Previously I was using 15 in sport rims( Which I changed for Rm 1000 for rims alone) and tyres which I think was in the sun too long at the KIA depot.... I felt vibration after going at 120kmh and I was quite UPset since I felt my previous Gen 2 was better After I changed to imported lighweight 17' rims 215 45 tyres of course belanja lebih sikit lah.... Now the pick up top speed handling is superb I had my Car in Feb 2010 CBU ......EX Model Please check again the Forte is a Solid car shud not be like how u describe..... I know the car is good as i was driving Waja ,Wira, Peugot 406, 306 , Mitsubushi Lancer and last Gen 2 before What was yr last car by the way if u dont mind me asking Tuan Zaidi? |

Hi Darren, I am still figuring what when wrong with my Forte, I hv quite along list car owned prior to this.
To name a few Proton Putra, Waja, Iswara, Wira, Gen2; Honda Civic mayat; Toyota Corolla LE, SE; Alfa 155; Perodua Myvi, Kancil; Ford Focus, Ranger; Hyundai Matrix, Santa Fe. You might wonder why such a long list, yes thats it for the past 19 years. From the banyak2, I am stil thinking the Focus is the best followed by 155 and Putra in term of handling. Waja also not bad. How much it cost u the lightweight rims and tyres if u dont mind. |
